Design Notes

The cell wall of yeast is rich in chitin, so we introduce the chitinase sequence of Trichoderma harziana (CBS226.95) to secrete it into the extracellular space to degrade the yeast cell wall to produce COS. Also, the reason we chose Trichoderma harziana is that it belongs to the same division as S. cerevisiae, so it may reduce the possibility of rejection of foreign genes.
